NEXT FESTIVAL

Since 2000, Atrakt Art association has been organizing the annual NEXT festival of advanced music in Bratislava, Slovakia. Its role is twofold: to present the outstanding personalities from the scene of experimental music as well as to give the upcoming artists from Slovakia and neighbour countries a chance to perform new works and play together.

The festival is focused especially on musicians who are both composers and performers of their music. In many cases they are a maverick virtuosos that gave up ordinary playing techniques or “ordinary” musical genres in order to find their own unique ‘language’. During its rich history, many outstanding personalities played at the NEXT festival, representing the whole spectrum of innovative music ranging from free improvisation, avant rock, electro-acoustic music to audiovisual performances.
